Wanbo’s students traveled to Canada again during the summer vacation

Three schools (HeFei Run’an Boarding School, TianJinWanboBoarding School, MianYangWanboExperimentalSchool) in Wanbo Group were invited by Pan Pacific Int’1 English college in Victoria, BC, Canada this summer, Twenty-nine students attended school holiday activities which were held in Victoria from the 12th to the 18th of July, 2004.

Victoria lies on the southwest corner of Canada, on Vancouver Island. Although the city is not big, it is the capital of British Columbia, is an important military area, is known as “flower city”, “the most beautiful city in the world”. It is across the strait from the US city of Seattle. The climate is warm in winter and cool in summer because of a favorable geographical location. Students didn’t feel hot at all, and enjoyed sunshine and beaches.

This summer camp mainly included two parts: ESL English training and tourism. PPIEC was divided into two campuses: winter campus and summer campus. This summer camp was arranged on the summer campus. The campus lies on the seashore, has a soccer pitch and basketball ground with quality facilities, has classrooms of different styles, and presents students with activity areas during breaks and after classes. PPIEC registers students from different countries to attend the school holiday activities, which are different from winter vacation. This time was without exception. Students from Mexico, Japan, Korea, Russia and other countries, and our students were divided into different classes for testing. Each class had a fixed teacher, they stimulated students to learn English using all kinds of different teaching methods. All the students competed with each other to become good students in the class. Students from many nations communicating in a common language improved their English level and promoted international friendship.

The students visited enjoyable tourist attractions downtown. They visited the BC provincial museum “Miniature World” and watched an Imax movie, and saw amusements at sea. When students visited Vancouver, they didn’t forget to visit the set where the TV serial “Farewell, Vancouver” was shot and broadcast. Students all cheered when the scenery which was only seen on TV was close at hand. The wonderful programmes made students know about Canadian history, and appreciate some beautiful scenery in Canada, and feel keenly the joys of Vacation. On the way back to school from Vancouver, students aboard saw in the distance wales in groups which were playing in the sea, embodying vividly and incisively the harmonious unity between animal and nature. And we felt deeply the importance of protecting the environment. Now we personally sense the importance of protecting the environment. However, the most important characteristic and content were that students went into society and experienced common family life in BC. Each student was placed in a responsible family which was selected carefully. Students went to school by bus. The responsible parents had taught them not only directions and how to eat western food, but also their family ethics.
