Analysis   of the Teaching Material

 

What: 语篇讲述了作者喜欢弹电吉他、听摇滚乐,而他的爷爷虽然也是音乐爱好者,但是喜欢的却是截然不同的乐器和音乐类型---二胡和京剧。一次无意间的音乐交融激发了作者的音乐灵感,将两种音乐结合起来创作一首歌曲。作者决定和爷爷一起参加学校的艺术节表演这个节目。经过一周的练习,他们登上艺术节的舞台,开心地享受表演,也赢得了观众的喜爱。

Why: 通过这个故事,引导学生思考自己的爱好是什么,体会拥有爱好的重要性,学会通过爱好收获乐趣、享受人生,同时要广泛接受不同的爱好,并给予尊重和理解,建立积极健康的社交关系。

How: 语篇从作者的兴趣爱好引入,然后描述爷爷的兴趣爱好,两种风格迥异的音乐类型产生强烈对比,激发学生阅读兴趣。接着提到作者灵机一动,产生将两种音乐结合起来的想法,这里体现出传统的中国音乐和现代的西方音乐的碰撞,此处用“Why don’t we...?”这样的疑问句来表示说话人想要采取的行动。随后两人通过努力练习最终在舞台上完成了完美的表演。文中“‘Grandpa!I rushed into his room...”通过对作者说话声调和动作的描述显示了作者激动和兴奋的心情。“Everybody   moves with our music.”通过对观众的行为动作的描写展示了观众完全沉浸在表演中、情绪高涨,也从侧面印证了作者和爷爷这次表演的成功。文中“I nod to Grandpa and we fire up our instruments.”和“Grandpa   gives me a big smile, and I smile back.”这两处对行为动作的描写展示出爷孙俩通过这次合作形成的默契,体现了兴趣爱好的一个积极作用——情感升华。文章最后一句“It feels great to enjoy our hobby together.”进一步总结爱好的作用,同时呼应单元主题——爱好带来的人生乐趣。

对于7年级的学生来说,兴趣爱好广泛存在于日常生活中。因此,当学习内容与实际生活紧密相连时,能够引起学生的强烈兴趣。同时,7年级学生通常已经具备了一定的英语基础,例如基础的词汇、语法规则和简单的会话能力。然而,他们在阅读复杂文本、理解深层含义和文化背景方面可能还不够成熟。

Teaching procedures:

Step 1: Lead in

Show some pictures about hobbies and ask students the questions.

What do you like doing?/What is your hobby?

Design purpose: Through the questions, it can lead to the topic and it can also attract students’ attention greatly.

Step 2. Pre-reading

Show some pictures about instruments and ask students the following questions:

1. What instruments are they playing?

2. What kind of music are they playing?

3. How do they feel?

Design purpose: Students knows the words about instruments. And it is benefical to the following reading.

Step 3 while-reading

Skimming---predict the main idea of the passage. (Do activity 3)

Match the paragraph with the titles.

Complete the chart with the words and expressions from the passage.(Do activity 4)

Read the sentences and summarise the grammar rules.(Do activity 5)

Describe the table using there be.( Do activity 6)

Design purpose: It can improve students’ reading skills.

Step 4 Post-reading

Retell the passage according the mind map.

Think and share.

Design purpose: It can help students consolidate the passage and it can improve students’ spoken English.

Reflection --- 培优辅弱

辅弱 3 胡可唯

胡可唯同学英语基础薄弱,每次单词听写都会出现一些错误。但她平时在课堂上特别认真与专注。每次布置作业,她都会积极完成,该同学上课积极认真,但是在课堂上不太敢表现自己,非常的低调。在最后的think and share环节,有几位同学自告奋勇的举手去讲台展示。但胡可唯同学想上去展示但是又不敢举手,我鼓励她要勇于展示自己,表现自己。在我的几次耐心鼓励下,该同学走上讲台,认真地进行展示,完成得非常棒。我课后找到她,告诉她要克服胆怯,勇敢地展现自己。同时告诉她克服胆怯的方法:1. 确定自己的目标:明确你想要克服胆怯的原因。2. 正面思考:尝试转变你的思维方式,将挑战视为成长的机会。相信自己有能力克服胆怯,并且每一次尝试都是向目标迈进的步伐。3. 深呼吸和放松:在感到紧张或害怕时,进行深呼吸和放松练习。这将有助于减轻身体的紧张感,使你更加冷静和自信。4. 寻求支持:与他人分享你的感受,寻求他们的支持和鼓励。
