The IB Community Project encourages students to engage in self-directed inquiry learning with a global mindset.
The programme expects students to:
conduct sustained, self-directed inquiries within global contexts;
generate innovative insights and deepen their understanding through in-depth research;
holistically demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for long-term projects;
hone communication skills in diverse contexts;
put responsible action into practice;
and enjoy the process of inquiry while taking pride in their growth and accomplishments.
Assess the quality of service actions against the criteria, reflect on the cognitive advancement brought by service learning, and consolidate learning methods and skills.
After the pairing and signing, supervising teachers will accompany students throughout their project inquiry journey.
Supervisors will conduct rigorous reviews of project topics to ensure projects comply with legal and ethical standards regarding health and safety, privacy, human rights, environmental protection and other relevant areas. They will provide professional guidance throughout the entire process of project planning, research and completion, verify the originality of students’ work, evaluate projects against assessment rubrics, and implement the school’s standardized assessment procedures.
Students will also receive comprehensive project support: to clarify project guidelines, deadlines and assessment criteria, master the methods of keeping process journals, develop analytical and reflective thinking, receive formative feedback, and strictly abide by requirements related to academic integrity.
A signed agreement embodies mutual trust and, more importantly, a commitment to growth.
From research conceptualization and proposal planning to implementation and reflective review, students will turn their focus to real communities and carry out independent inquiry practice with the professional mentorship of supervising teachers, responding to authentic community needs through thinking and action.
It is anticipated that on their Community Project journey, students will dare to explore, act bravely and reflect thoughtfully. They will achieve growth in competence and perspective in the process of serving the community.
