Analysis of the Teaching Material

 

What: 本语篇主要围绕渡渡鸟的故事展开,包括观察图片并回答相关问题, 阅读文章了解渡渡鸟的生存环境、灭绝原因等内容,用文中词汇完成展示板,回答关于渡渡鸟的问题,思考文章的目的以及人类行为对动物的影响。此外,还要求学生对另一种灭绝动物进行研究并写一段短文,包括介绍动物的基本信息、灭绝原因以及从其故事中得到的启示等。

Why: 该语篇的目的是让学生了解动物灭绝的原因,培养学生对动物的保护意识。通过阅读渡渡鸟的故事以及对其他灭绝动物的研究和写作,使学生认识到人类行为对动物的影响,引导学生思考如何保护动物,同时提高学生的阅读理解和写作能力。

How: 通过观察图片和阅读文章引导学生获取信息,完成展示板和回答问题有助于学生理解和梳理文章内容。对另一种灭绝动物的写作任务,要求学生进行研究并按照步骤组织信息,通过检查确保包含必要内容并使用相关词汇和表达观点,最后与班级分享。

学生在小学已经积累了部分动物类型、外形外貌特征的词汇。在前四个单元掌握了一般现在时态,但是部分学生语言基本结构掌握不扎实,可能会影响部分句子的理解。学生对日常生活中常见的动物有所了解,少数同学对于动物的生存现状有了解。但部分学生可能缺乏深入思考,满足于表层的观察。

1. 描述生存环境的句型   Dodos lived on an   island in the Indian Ocean. There was plenty of food to eat and all other   animals were friendly.

2. 描述人类行为影响的句型   However, in 1598,   humans arrived. They cut down the trees and our lovely forest was gone. They   hunted us because we were slow and couldn't fly. What's more, their pigs,   cats and dogs ate our eggs. As a result, we soon died out.

Activity   1: Observe and Question about Animals

Students   answer questions about whether they know certain animals, where they can see   them now, and what happened to them, and watch a video to answer questions   like where they can see these animals now, what happened to them, and what   the reasons might be.

Activity   1: Read for Main Idea

Students   read the passage quickly to answer questions about what the passage is mainly   about (the bird

“dodo   ”), in what order it is written (time order), and match the main ideas with   each paragraph (Paragraph 1: Introduction; Paragraph 2: Dodos lived a   peaceful and safe life in the past; Paragraph 3: Dodos died out; Paragraph 4:   Dodos are in the museum now).

Step   4: Careful - reading

Activity   1: Read for Details

Students   read paragraphs 2, 3, and 4 carefully and complete the display board about   what happened to    dodos, including   details like they lived on an island, humans arrived in 1598, they cut down   the trees and hunted dodos, their pigs, cats and dogs ate the dodo's eggs,   and dodos soon died out.

Students   answer questions about what “as happy as a clam”and“as dead as a dodo”mean,   why the writer uses these two expressions at the end of the

passage,   and what the purpose of the passage is (to tell us to protect animals).

Activity   1: Research and Write about Extinct Animal

Students   do research on an extinct animal, including what it is, where it lived, what   it was like, its habits, and why it died out, organize the information, write   a short paragraph, check if they introduced the animal's

experience,   used words from the reading passage, and gave an opinion about protecting   animals, and share the paragraph with the class.

Reflection

辅弱——七1班阚海波

阚海波成绩中等,书写较认真,但知识基础不扎实;学习目标不明确,上课较少举手发言,但也能认真听讲,理科成绩还算不错,但英语差,偏科严重。平时作业完成情况良好,学习有上进心,但需要老师时刻监督,自觉性欠缺。我积极与学生父母沟通,了解学生以前在家的学习情况。平时在教学中注意抓住他的闪光点,及时表扬。针对学生的实际情况,为他制定英语常规作业登记表,帮助他巩固基本英语知识的掌握、扫清其阅读障碍。在班上确定一对一帮扶小组,让热心的同学与他为伴,增加他学习的动力,营造良好的学习环境。家长和我商量攻克词汇短板,购置了百词斩单词机,老师督促孩子每日完成背诵任务。
